Permlight for Signs, one of the pioneers of the LED systems for signs, uses highly efficient, exclusive technology. Our LED systems for signs are tested, patented and proven through years of experience. Manufacturers rely on our team of engineers to help rethink the possibilities of lighting design, and how energy is conserved.

We work closely with sign manufacturers and distributors to bring Solid State Lighting sign applications to market quickly, effectively and at lower cost. By partnering with our customers, Permlight for Signs is ushering in a new era in sign lighting technology, based on our LED systems for signs, engineering aptitude and speed to market, we provide products that are cost-effective, environmentally responsible and brighter than the competition.

A History of Innovation.

Permlight for Signs is a division of Permlight Products, an innovator since 1995 in the development of high-powered LED systems for signs, and more recently in residential and commercial LED lighting applications. Permlight Products’ inventive LED light engine designs are offered through two divisions: Permlight for Signs, which develops high-powered LED systems for illuminated signs and Brillia, a company dedicated to expanding the boundaries of general illumination by partnering with the world’s leading brands and manufacturers of lighting fixtures.

 

Timeline

1962

 

The first visible red LED is invented.

1993

 

High-brightness, blue LEDs became commercially viable.

1995

 

Permlight, founded by Ben George, begins replacing incandescent lights with LEDs embedded in the floors of cinemas.

2001

 

Permlight files patent #6,578,986, changing the landscape of light engine technology. Permlight captures the advantage; now able to use LEDs up to the manufacturers rated current, making them shine brighter without damaging the chips. Ultimately offering cost efficiency, Permlight can now use fewer LEDs than the competition while offering the same light output.

2002

 

First LED modules produced for illuminated signs; 9 million modules shipped since.

2003

 

Twister™ sign module becomes the industry benchmark for brightness, cost and size.

2003

 

Bright white LEDs are developed, leading the way for new consumer product development.

2004

 

First Enbryten™ LED fixtures to replace architectural and niche lighting.

2005

 

First commercially viable award-winning LED downlights introduced.

2006

 

El Plato is introduced at the ISA as the brightest product available. Today, El Plato has yet to be surpassed and continues to set the bar for brightness levels.

2008   Permlight for Signs and Brillia are created, providing unprecedented levels of specialization and customer focus. Enbryten™ is transitioned to the Progress Everlume brand, allowing Permlight's divisions to focus on LED signage and SSL for general illumination.

2008

 

The A6 and A8 are introduced as an industry first. Offering customers a choice of two cool whites, not available until now, the new products provide a range of 5600 – 7000K and 7000 – 9000K.
